Dwight Vidale is in his seventh year of teaching at Riverdale Country School, a coed day school in the Bronx, New York. He teaches English in both the middle (6th) and upper school (9th) and considers himself to be a social justice teacher because he focuses his students’ attention on diverse topics in literature. Dwight also serves as the Director of Community Engagement, the department responsible for organizing and executing the diversity and inclusion initiatives on the Hill campus. His team supports student affnity groups, family discussion groups and faculty training. In addition to being a senior administrator, Dwight also co-facilitates a leadership program, which examines what leadership looks like at Riverdale. Dwight attended Riverdale Country School as a high school student and went on to graduate with honors from Brown University. He joined Teach for America (TFA), a nonproft organization whose mission is to end educational inequity. With TFA, Dwight taught English at Sam Houston High School in Houston, TX for three years.
