The National Diversity Practitioners Institute (NDPI) is a three-day, in-person intensive professional development designed for educators and administrators who seek to sharpen their skills and deepen their practice in building equitable, just, and inclusive school communities—places where all members experience a true sense of belonging.
Led by experienced school leaders and nationally recognized diversity practitioners, NDPI is a highly interactive institute that balances skill-building, strategic thinking, and reflective practice. Participants engage in meaningful learning within a supportive community of peers who are committed to advancing this work in their own institutions. What You Will Experience
Who Should Attend While many participants serve as Directors of DEIB, NDPI is designed for anyone responsible for advancing equity and justice within their school community. Past participants have included:

The work of building equitable and inclusive schools is both deeply human and profoundly complex. Schools cannot become places of belonging by intention alone. They require leaders who are equipped, supported, and ready to do the work thoughtfully, skillfully, and in community.

This interactive session, led by Camille S. Edwards of Diversity Education in Nature (DEIN), invites educators and school leaders into a values - centered exploration of personal resilience, using the Earth as both teacher and mirror. In the context of equity and justice work - where urgency, complexity, and uncertainty are ever-present - many leaders find themselves forging ahead without a clear map. In these moments, the ability to remain internally oriented becomes essential.
This session centers a redefinition of resilience as the capacity to remain in relationship with oneself - to meet one’s experiences with honesty, care, and internal belonging, even when the path forward is unclear. Participants will leave with both a conceptual framework and practical approaches for staying oriented to their values - their “true north” - while engaging in complex and demanding equity work.
